The inaccurate uses of artificial lights and incorrect directions of light radiances in large cities such as Tehran have caused light pollution that should be given special attention about them in lighting design process. In buildings with various functions the requirement for lighting design of elevation has been different and designing and applying the appropriate method in this regard needs the professional experts in this field. The following points are generally a frame of the guidance of the elevations lighting design:

• Emphasizing the horizontal and vertical rhythms of the building
• Emphasis on the main concept of the elevation, corner of the building
• Concentrating on the columns and illuminating the columns from down or up sides, focusing on the rhythms of the columns, illuminating the background and both sides of the columns
• Emphasizing the entrance of the pedestrians and the car route and ground floor for further understanding of the building and also making security especially in residential buildings
• Concentrating on the roof line of the building and showing the total building volume( shape of that)
• Forbiddance of illumination of materials with high reflectivity to avoid dazzling, especially in traffic jams and crowded regions
• Prohibition of installation of light sources with high radiation rays, such as placement of projectors under windows, to prevent light pollution and the annoyance of residents into the building
• Using light sources with low light radiation rays and installation of the source of that in the frames (borders) of the windows with less radiation rays in comparison with the depth of the frame.
