In this plan, the concept of designing a lighting system is made up of two main principles:
1. Light tells a story from the past to the future.
2. Viewer-friendly lightscope
It is apparent that Europe today is known to be a museum of architecture from the 1930s. Taking into account the construction of new buildings, and the potential for user and future development it is possible to envision a period of time spanning from the past to the future for the development of this site. The primary concept was a result of this idea, and the temperature of the light’s colour is used as one of the variables of lighting to represent history and make a connection between the past and the future. The changing of the temperature of the light’s colour along the site’s main path represents the varying time periods of the buildings seen while walking the aforementioned path. Therefore, the period of time in which the building was constructed in Europe is matched with the spectrum of the temperature of the light’s colour; also, the lighting along the Christopher Columbus route and the buildings, is achieved by adhering to the aforementioned point. As such, the lighting tells a story of the past to the future and accentuates the possibilities and potential of the site.
